Police say an Indiana woman fired a gun at an appliance repairman in a dispute over her dryer’s warranty.
Reba LaJoy Wilson, 43, of Indianapolis, called a repairman to fix her dryer on March 18th. According to court documents, when Nate Baird arrived at Wilson’s home, he found the machine already disassembled. In response to his questions, Wilson admitted that he would actually be the second repairman to work on the appliance. Additionally, she claimed the previous company had said her machine was still under warranty, so she didn’t intend to pay anyone for the work.
No doubt regretting he’d ever accepted the appointment, Baird explained to Wilson that he couldn’t honor the warranty of a competitor. He advised her to contact the manufacturer and turned to leave.
That was when Wilson really lost her shit.
Throwing herself in front of the door, she threatened to call police. Then. when that didn’t elicit the desired effect, she pulled a gun and ordered the man to sit.
He had other ideas though.
Making a desperate bid for safety, Baird ran out the back door and into the yard, headed for his truck. Enraged, Wilson screamed, “I’ll pop a cap in your ass!” and fired in his direction at least once.
Baird called 911 from his truck. Unfortunately for Wilson, she was about as good at eliminating evidence as she was at marksmanship because, when police arrived, they found a shell casing in plain view in her kitchen. A poorly-hidden gun was located under the couch.
Wilson was charged with criminal confinement, intimidation, criminal recklessness, pointing a gun at someone, and unlawful possession of a gun as a serious violent felon.
And her dryer never did get fixed.
